Loot Check ("we", "us", or "the app") helps you identify an item from a photo and estimate its resale value. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We've kept it short because the app collects very little.

Information we handle

• Photos you submit. When you scan an item, the photo(s) you take or select are sent to our server and then to our AI provider, Anthropic, to identify the item and generate a listing. We do not store your photos on our servers — they are used to produce your result and then discarded.
• A device identifier. The app generates an app-installation identifier and sends it with each scan. We use it only to enforce a daily scan limit per device. It is not your name, email, or Apple ID, and it is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
• Item details for pricing. A short text description of the identified item is sent to our server (and, where applicable, to a third-party pricing data provider) to estimate resale value.
• Anonymous totals. We keep an aggregate count of total scans across all users. This is a plain number and is not linked to you.

How we use this information

Solely to provide the app's features: identifying your item, writing a listing, estimating a resale price, recommending where to sell, and enforcing fair-use scan limits. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.

Third-party services

We rely on these providers to operate the app:

• Anthropic — processes your photos to identify items and generate listings (privacy policy).
• Vercel — hosts our backend server.
• Upstash — stores the per-device daily scan counters.
• Pricing data provider — when enabled, returns comparable sale prices for an item description.

When you tap "List on …" to post an item, the app opens that marketplace (e.g. eBay, Facebook Marketplace) in your browser. Anything you do there is governed by that marketplace's own privacy policy.

What we do not do

• No user accounts, names, emails, or passwords.
• No payments or financial information.
• No advertising, ad networks, or cross-app tracking.
• We do not sell or share your information.

Data retention

Photos are not retained after your result is generated. Per-device scan counters expire automatically (within about two days). The anonymous total scan count is retained indefinitely as an aggregate number.

Children

Loot Check is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Security

All communication between the app and our server uses encrypted HTTPS connections.

Your choices

You can stop all data processing at any time by not scanning items, by revoking camera or photo permissions in iOS Settings, or by deleting the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
